Alumni

At Turning Point Centers, we understand that wellness is a journey, not a destination. While the time spent in one of our structured programs lays the groundwork, true growth often happens in the everyday moments that follow. That’s why our alumni program is designed to be a lifelong resource, providing continued care, guidance, and encouragement well after clients leave our facility in Sandy, Utah.

The Importance of an Alumni Community

Transitioning back to daily life after completing a program can be both exciting and challenging. Whether you’ve worked to overcome mental health struggles, addiction, or both, having a strong network of support can help you navigate the ups and downs.

We created our alumni program for this very reason — to give you a safe, welcoming space where you can maintain your existing connections with peers and professionals and form new friendships. As part of our alumni community, you’ll have a wealth of resources available to you and a lasting alliance with the people you’ve gotten to know.

By actively participating in our alumni program, you can keep building on the progress you’ve made and reinforce the skills you learned during your stay with us. In the close-knit community at Turning Point, you’ll always have a shoulder to lean on, a source of motivation, and a place to call home.

What To Expect from Our Alumni Program

Our alumni program consists of various meetings, events, and gatherings aimed at bringing our former clients together and strengthening their social bonds. You can look forward to the following activities:

  • Team sports: Participate in recreational sports, like volleyball, basketball, and softball, that foster teamwork, healthy competition, and physical well-being.
  • Group meetings: Join groups in which you can share stories, discuss setbacks, and celebrate milestones with peers.
  • Online support: Stay connected with the alumni community through social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram.

Perhaps one of the most fulfilling aspects of being part of Turning Point Centers’ alumni program is the opportunity to give back to the community. We believe that service to others is a vital part of long-term success. As such, we offer several ways for alumni to get involved, whether it’s through volunteering or participating in charitable events. This type of engagement in the community not only benefits others but also provides a sense of contribution and promotes positive, impactful actions.

Benefits of an Alumni Community

When former clients join an alumni community, they can stay on track to meet their goals, cultivate resilience, and find joy in their day-to-day lives. Some of the benefits are:

  • Meaningful relationships: Our alumni community helps individuals form meaningful relationships with others who’ve gone through similar experiences. This can be challenging to find in the outside world.
  • Support and guidance: After completing one of our programs, clients can continue to receive support and guidance from their care team and their peers.
  • Ease of transition back to normal life: As they readjust to life after treatment, many people often deal with anxiety and social isolation. By staying engaged with our alumni community, clients can reduce feelings of loneliness and learn how to adapt to new routines.
  • Relapse prevention: Our alumni community provides those who are in recovery from substance use disorders with a solid support system and the tools they need to reduce their risk for relapse.
  • Flexible involvement: There is no pressure to attend every meeting or event within the alumni community. Individuals have the freedom to participate how and when it works best for them, whether that’s regularly, occasionally, or just virtually.
