Dr. Timothy Schaat is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Addiction Medicine. Dr. Schaat completed his residency in Colorado and moved to Salt Lake in 2008 and immediately began working with patients suffering from substance dependency and psychiatric illness in an outpatient setting. By 2009 he began working with patients in the residential treatment environment and has since worked extensively as the Medical Director of facilities offering acute detoxification, residential and intensive outpatient services, as well as continued treatment of chemical dependency in the outpatient clinic setting. In 2015 he became the Medical Director at Turning Point Centers. Dr Schaat is an experienced, caring physician with a passion for both addiction treatment and psychiatric disease, as well as continued interest in family medicine. He has over a decade of experience utilizing MAT for managing the disease of addiction both through alleviating the suffering of acute detoxification and decreasing the risk of relapse through ongoing outpatient care. He is one of the few physicians in the State to provide Naltrexone Pellets for Opioid Dependence and Alcohol Use Disorders as an alternative to injectable Naltrexone.
